Let’s face it, 2017 got nasty at times. At one point, after terrorist incidents at Westminster, Manchester, Borough Market and Finsbury Park and the horrific fire at Grenfell Tower, it got to the point where it was only with a great deal of trepidation that you could watch the news, such was the level of dread about what may unfold. Layer on top of that, a Prime Minister who called an election with the rather arrogant assumption that the result would fall into her lap, only to leave the country in some kind of half gloom of marginal management and Brexit bollocks, and please do not get me started on the leader of the free world…
In Dig Down, Muse managed to encapsulate the themes of the day:
“When God decides to look the other way
And a clown takes the throne
We must find a way”
A song about hanging in there and finding some grit in the face of adversity – inspiring and stirring. Bear Grylls on bass guitar if you like.
